1)The origins of this dish is uncertain though fables has it that it originated in the kitchen of Thanjavur Marathas swayer Shahuji, during the 18th century from the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.It is believed that Shahji had a liking for a dish called amti which had kokum as one of its main fixingses. In one particular time of year, the kokum which was imported from the Maratha native land ran out of provisions and someone suggested to him that the locals used tamarind pulp for sourness. Shahji tried out the dish with the pigeon peas, vegetables, spices and the tamarind pulp helped his coterie and his cousin,Y who was visiting him. The court liked the dish and named it X after the guest of the day,Y.

Unripened Mango for its tang, signifying Surprise

    1.Is Sambhar or Vatha Kuzhambu but more probable that it is Sambhar and the guy is sambha
