P.S:another one!!

September 2, 2010

now another set, this set is only a set to compensate on the heavy visual querries of poppy!
so here goes:

1)The term “X” is often attributed to Robert A. Heinlein. In his first
known use of the term, in editorial material at the front of the
2/8/1947 issue of The Saturday Evening Post, Heinlein used it
specifically as a synonym for “science fiction”; in a later piece, he
explicitly stated that his use of the term did not include fantasy.
Heinlein may have come up with the term himself, but there are earlier
citations: a piece in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1889, used the
term in reference to Edward Bellamy’s Looking Backward: 2000–1887 and
other works; and one in the May 1900 issue of The Bookman said that
John Uri Lloyd’s Etidorhpa, The End of the Earth had “created a great
deal of discussion among people interested in X.”ID X.

2)the settlement of Riverside was established in 1872 and incorporated
in 1882 in Iowa.In March 1985, when the city was looking for a theme
for its annual town festival, Steve Miller, a member of the Riverside
City Council, suggested to the council that Riverside should proclaim
itself to be the future birthplace of X. Miller’s motion passed
unanimously. The council later wrote to Y for his permission to be
designated as the official birthplace of X, and Y agreed.ID X,Y.

3)X is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing X bags at a
raised platform with a hole in the far end. These platforms are
usually made with plywood or plastic and are often decorated. A ____
bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1
point. Play continues until a player reaches the score of 21.The true
history of the game X is mostly unknown, though stories abound. One
story claims that the game was first played during the 14th century in
Germany, then rediscovered in Kentucky within the last century.Despite
debate about whether the game was actually created in the Kentucky
farmland, Champaign, IL or the West Side of Cincinnati, some sources
credit the invention to western Cincinnati, but by whom or when is
unknown. Popularity of the game began to increase in the late 1990s in
Cincinnati area universities, particularly Miami University where X
became a mainstay at parties and as a casual drinking game. Helped
along by the advent of commercial X bags and boards under the
trademark Baggo, X is now a popular game in and around the Midwest and
Rust Belt states.Id X.

4)X, circa late-autumn 2001, is often referred to as “the worst place
in America”,for its rampant crime and corruption; gang wars, theft,
and murder are endemic to everyday life to the point where police
intervention has become nearly negligible.Little is known about X’s
early history, although clues exists claiming that X was “a church, a
cow pasture and three houses when the telephone was invented”,and a
map of X provided in the packaging of Y: X Stories claims that X is
celebrating its 200th anniversary in 1998,suggesting that X was
founded in 1798. The population of X is given at four million.a
website mentions that X is twinned with Beirut.ID X.

5)The term “XY” was first used in the 1700s, “when publishing was
establishing itself as a business employing writers who could produce
to order.”The derivation of the term “X” was a “shortening of X-ney,
which described a horse that was easy to ride and available for
hire.”ID X-Y.

i hope this is a good set,cheers!

1)Ok I have read about this guy & the term..He is the one who said..”Love” is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy…I don’t certainly agree with few other quotes of his..BTW..The term you are looking for is Speculative fiction.

2)I guess its all Science Fiction now..Ok,Riverside is in Iowa..This is where the trek begins..Right?..This was the future birthplace of Captain Kirk as Miller wanted it..So Kirk is X..They should be getting the permission from Kirk’s Creator, who is Eugene Wesley Roddenberry. So Y is Gene Roddenberry,as we all know him.

3)Have been this Sports quizzer for a long time..Few months back read about Lawn games..Even read about the Pétanque which was asked at QFI GM quiz..& this one is called Cornhole.

4)Brilliant Question..My cousin has this game..This is an endless chapter at home..The game is GTA:Liberty City. So,X is Liberty City & you said Packaging of Y.So Y should be Grand Theft Auto:Liberty City.

5)X-ney = horse that was easy to ride??..That’s The Hackney Horses I guess..So its Hackney..& X is Hack..So XY may be Hack Writers..Now,XY is a pure guess,ok?..You have said ‘writers’ who could produce to order.

    God’s Own 🙂
