1)In Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass (1871),proximal to the beginning, Alice manages to discover and reads “Jabberwocky“. “X”, a word appears twice in the poem, which accounts a young boy’s quest to slay the Jabberwock:
He took his X sword in hand:

The X blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
